The NCHP's regular Course Tutors are all graduates of the NCHP, and thus able to empathise (and sympathise) with students under tuition. They are all experienced therapists, members of the NRHP with considerable teaching experience, the majority with formal teaching qualifications. This background facilitates a pastoral and supervisory relationship with their students, in addition to the Tutorial role. They are not full-time employees of the NCHP, but are paid for teaching undertaken on a contractual basis. Brief biographical details of Course Tutors follow:

Shaun Brookhouse began his hypnotherapy practice in 1989 and has been in continual full-time practice since then. He earned Graduateship Diploma (First Degree Equivalent) in Counselling and Hypnotherapy from the City and Guilds Institute of London, a Masters Degree in Education Studies (Researching the development of training in Hypnotherapy 1971-1998), Liverpool John Moores University, a CertEd from Manchester University in which the assessment was based in part on the course he designed in clinical hypnosis, an Associateship Diploma from the College of Teachers and Licenciateship in Training and Development.
Shaun is a Certified Master Instructor with the National Guild of Hypnotists. Shaun is also a past Chairman of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, one of the UK's premier hypnotherapy societies. Additionally, he is a NLP Master Trainer. Shaun has been UKCP registered since 1996 and was a former Hypno-Psychotherapy Section delegate, Section Chair, and Ordinary Member of the UKCP governing board. In 2008, he was re-elected to the Chair of the Hypno-Psychotherapy Section with an automatic seat on the Board of Trustees.
Shaun was one of the first two hypnotherapists to earn the externally accredited Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma . He is also the co-author of Motivational Hypnotism (ISBN 0-9544604-1-3) Building a Successful and Ethical Therapy Practice (ISBN 0-9544604-0-5) and Hypnotic Coaching (ISBN 0-9544604-1-3).

Jon graduated from Swansea University with an Honours Degree in 1972. He has worked in industry and has taught for over twenty years.
Jon was trained by the NCHP and by Relate (the National Marriage Guidance Organ-isation). He is a member of the NRHP and has worked as a counsellor for Relate. He has worked with individuals, couples and groups, as well as supervising therapists/ counsellors.
His main interests are in working with stress, self esteem, relationships and abuse issues.
Building on her existing background of counselling, psychology, sociology and criminology, Lesley Carol qualified with the National College in 1994, and has continued to supplement her training with a range of specialisms, particularly in the fields of mental health, drugs and alcohol and young people. She also has many years experience as a training consultant, developing and delivering training programmes for a major national charity which delivers emotional support and crisis intervention, and for a range of other organisations within both the voluntary and public sectors.
Lesley has extensive experience of working with people at grass roots level as a therapist, trainer and adviser, and specialises in building the capacity of individuals to enable them to overcome difficulties and live the lives they really want - helping them find a way forward. Lesley's practice, Carol Consultancy, is situated in the North East of England, approximately 8 miles outside of Newcastle upon Tyne, and she works with clients across a broad geographical area, from the Borders to North Yorkshire.

Josie holds a BSc(Hons) in Physiology & Pharmacology from the University of Leeds, and a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Bradford.
Josie has been a researcher in behavioural psychology since 1991, working as a scientist in Experimental Psychology and Psychiatry departments (at the University of Cambridge, UK, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA, respectively). She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bradford, School of Pharmacy, where she teaches psychological and psychiatric topics, and researches Alzheimer's disease, drug abuse and schizophrenia.Josie trained with the NCHP and is a member of the NRHP. She has a particular interest in working with student issues (such as examination phobia, using hypnosis to improve study skills and so on). Additional interests include working with habits and compulsions (over-eating, eating disorders, nail biting, hair pulling, etc), and Josie is in the process of setting up a study to examine the use of hypnosis in obstetrics (ante-natal hypnotic training and use of hypnosis in labour/childbirth).

Barry runs a private hypnotherapy practice in Edinburgh where he specialises in stress management, treating phobias and regression work. Personal development, politics of health and well-being, and altered states of consciousness are areas in which Barry takes a particular interest.
Having trained with the NCHP, Barry is a Full member of the NRHP, and holds an MSc in Health Promotion. Actively involved in giving lectures to Local Authority departments, public groups, etc., on stress management and hypnosis, Barry has been involved in teaching the NCHP's courses since 1987.

Su holds a BA(Hons) in History and Social Biology from ReadingUniversity, as well as several qualifications in hypnosis, hypno-psychotherapy and reflexology.
Prior to joining the NCHP Faculty, she was the Executive Director and Chair-Elect of the National Council for Hypnotherapy. She runs a very successful practice in Daventry and is a qualified Supervisor in addition to being a clinical practitioner.

Sian has over 10 years teaching experience in the state and private sector in this country and overseas.
She runs her own busy practice and has worked with clients with a variety of presenting problems including anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, child sexual abuse, bipolar disorder, agoraphobia and the usual weight loss and smoking issues.
She is also the principal therapist in a very successful project in a school using hypnosis with angry adolescents.
As well as having trained with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and being a member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists Sian is also trained in Counselling, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques/Therapy), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

Dr Daniel Nightingale is the Director of Medical and Nursing Healthcare and Clinical Hypno-Psychotherapy at the Abacus Clinic. he is specialist tutor in dementia care for NCHP. He has worked in both the NHS and prvate healthcare.
He holds the NCHP Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Hypno-Psychotherapy and is a member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists where he is Head of the NRHP Dementia Care Faculty. He is also a full member of the UKCP.
For over 4 years, he has collaborated with Dr Simon Duff in research of hypnosis in dementia. This has resulted in the publication of 3 very interesting papers. Two of these appeared in the European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis (The Efficacy of Hypnosis in Changing the Quality of Life in patients with Dementia - Duff & Nightingale, 2005) and Long-Term Outcomes of Hypnosis in Changing the Quaity of Life in Patients with Dementia - Duff & Nightingale, 2006). The third paper (Alternative Approaches to Supporting Individuals with Dementia: Enhancing Quality of Life Through Hypnosis - Duff & Nightingale, 2007) was published in Alzheimer's Care Today.

Susan Brock has an employment background in nursing, within the British NHS. Since graduating with a Social Science degree in 1989, she has been employed mainly by the University of Wolverhampton as both a researcher and a lecturer.
She currently works as a Senior Lecturer, in the Health Division, School of Health at the University of Wolverhampton. She teaches mainly on Complementary Therapy and Evidence Based Practice modules. She is particularly interested in problem based learning and the ways in which different forms of knowledge and learning contribute to professional practice. She has won awards for her teaching practice.
Susan trained with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and joined the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists in 1996 and runs a Hypno-Psychotherapy practice in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. Her approach to working with clients is informed mainly by ideas from Ego State theory. She is an active supervisor, is a registered psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Following military service and teacher training, David became an educator for 20 years, ending this phase of his life as Vice-Principal of an In-Service Teacher Training College. He then became a trained counsellor with a special interest in cognitive behavioural approaches, and for a number of years trained counsellors.
In common with all faculty members, David is also a graduate of NCHP having received a distinction. He specialises in working with Tinitus as well as HypnoBirthing®. He runs a full service practice in Wrexham. 
Graeme lives in south Wales and has worked in private practice as a Psychotherapist and Hypnotherapist, specialising in both neuroses and psychoses, since 1997. Following his first degree (Psychology), obtained in 1983 he was a self-employed Business Analyst and Adviser until 1992. From 1993 to 1997 he worked out of Ely Hospital, Cardiff, and throughout Cardiff & the Vale of Glamorgan alongside people with severe learning difficulties via the All Wales Strategy (AWS) until the effective closure of the hospital, and the end of AWS funding.
