About the National College of Hypnosis & Psychotherapy

  • The National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy has been offering respected, evidenced based and accredited training in clinical hypnosis/hypnotherapy and hypno-psychotherapy since 1977. This makes the National College one of the longest established and most respected hypnotherapy/hypno-psychotherapy training institutes in the world.

  • We train small groups of students, which we believe is important so that you get individual attention. Some schools have as many as 50 students in a class! We are also not limited to training in one location. We currently run courses in London, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Oxford and Glasgow.
  • NCHP courses adhere to the National Occupational Standards for Hypnotherapy (the Principal and Managing Director were members of the working group who wrote these), and will incorporate and NOS for psychotherapy as soon as these are produced by Skills for Health.
  • Therapy is an "individual" process: we will encourage you to find your own way to be the best therapist you can be.
  • Our Principal and MD have over 34 years clinical experience and our Principal has over 15 years experience teaching hypnotherapists/hypno-psychotherapists, we have the experience to help guide you successfully in your new career.
  • Our complete Diploma Course is a genuine, validated post graduate programme (45 Pg Credits awarded by Open University after completion of Stages-1-3). We have enjoyed this level of recognition since 1997.

Note:- The National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy™ has meaningful external accreditation, notably with the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education. The British Accreditation Council is an independent specialist accrediting agency (as opposed to what might be described as a trade association). The Council's Inspection Summary is available on our accreditation page, and its full Institutional Report is available upon request. Such reports, their comprehensiveness and credibility as independent assessments, can offer a useful aid when determining with whom to train. The National College courses attract substantial Open University-specific credit rating and demonstrable access to other areas of reputable higher education.

Statutory Regulation of Psychotherapists


In February 2007 the Government introduced a white paper which includes, amongst other things, proposals for all psychotherapists to be regulated by statute.  The National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy is committed to high standards within the profession and its response to the white paper can be found by clicking here.
